Exam lifecycle

Ten steps. Ten safeguards.

The easiest way to understand aimeXM is to follow a single exam through it. At every step there is a built-in safeguard.

Illustrated overview of the aimeXM national exam platform — biometric-first registration, anonymisation boundary, air-gapped enclave, hash-chained ledger and HSM-protected cryptography.
The full journey of one exam — from candidate identity through fortified core to lifetime-verifiable results.
  1. 01

    Sign-up

    What happens
Schools register their candidates online and confirm details.
    The safeguard
Fingerprint or face is enrolled — no one can register twice or in someone else's name.
  2. 02

    Writing questions

    What happens
Subject experts author exam questions inside the system.
    The safeguard
They work in a sealed digital enclave. Nothing can be copied, printed or carried out.
  3. 03

    Making papers

    What happens
The system randomises questions into exam papers.
    The safeguard
Every printed copy carries a unique serial — leaks are traceable to the copy.
  4. 04

    Approving & printing

    What happens
    Papers are unlocked for printing.
    The safeguard
Two senior officials must approve together. No one can release a paper alone.
  5. 05

    Delivery

    What happens
    Papers travel to exam centres.
    The safeguard
Every handover is scanned and time-stamped — the journey of each packet is tracked.
  6. 06

    Exam day

    What happens
Candidates are checked in and sit the exam.
    The safeguard
Biometrics confirm identity; the console works offline and through power cuts.
  7. 07

    Marking

    What happens
    Answers are marked.
    The safeguard
Markers never see whose paper it is. Marking is fair and free from favouritism.
  8. 08

    Results

    What happens
    Results are calculated and published.
    The safeguard
Anomaly checks run before release, then candidates and schools are notified.
  9. 09

    Certificates

    What happens
    Certificates are issued.
    The safeguard
Each carries a code anyone can scan to confirm authenticity, now or in fifty years.
  10. 10

    Storage

    What happens
    Everything is saved.
    The safeguard
Records are locked against silent change and kept for the candidate's lifetime.
